ABOUT ME
Nan is a licensed psychologist with over 45 years of counseling and clinical experience. She believes that the healing factor in counseling is the relationship between the therapist and the client. Within that supportive, professional relationship, trust builds and allows the client to explore difficult aspects of their current and/or past experience. The client and the therapist process the material together, with the client gradually gaining “traction” on the problem. The goal is both understanding and behavior change.

Nan’s style is warm, attentive, and often humorous. She works with individual adults and couples on issues that include stress, anxiety, depression, health issues, loss, and grief. Couples’ work often focuses on communication and on understanding themselves and their partners through the lens of the Enneagram. She has studied Buddhism and Buddhist Psychology for many years, bringing those insights to her work

Nan also provides clinical supervision and consultation. Her supervisory style is collegial and collaborative, often with a focus on the prevention of professional burn-out.

Most recently, Nan was employed in a pastoral counseling institute. She previously served as the Clinical Director of a local non-profit counseling service. She has also worked as a psychologist in a community mental health center, and in a variety of other professional settings. Her doctorate in counseling psychology is from Northwestern University. She is licensed in Ohio and is recognized as a Health Service Provider in Psychology.

As part of her self-care, Nan tends to her indoor and outdoor plants, practices Tai Chi and reads for pleasure.

Nan welcomes inquiries about counseling or consultation. She practices in the Clifton neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio.
